Project Manager

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager based in Glasgow to join a Financial Services business on a 6-9 month contract basis.

An opportunity for an experienced Project Manager has arisen within the Financial Services sector working to support the migration activity involved in moving business units currently based in Head Office to new office locations across Glasgow, ensuring the overriding principle of ‘No Paper in or Out’ is adhered to.

Responsibilities

The project manager is responsible for the scope, direction, coordination, planning, implementation, executive, control and delivery of successful outcome/s of the project while remaining aligned with the strategy, commitments and goals of the business. This will encompass the following areas:

  • Help define each business units project scope, goals and deliverables to move business processes to a paperless office
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Identify and manage risks, assumptions, dependencies with the project scope and cross project dependencies
  • Define tasks and required resources / roles and responsibilities
  • Plan and implement individual work packages based on each business unit needs
  • Co-ordinate and manage detailed work package plans & resources
  • Produce and manage a key milestone project plan with detailed project schedule & timeline
  • Manage and agree delivery to agreed budget
  • Track & report deliverables against agreed milestones & outcomes
  • Support and direct team
  • Lead quality assurance
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation in line with Project Management methodologies
  • Monitor and report on project progress
  • Present to stakeholders at Steering Groups and where appropriate report on progress, risks, issues & dependencies identified & proposed solution options
  • Support the Project Sponsor to maintain the business case and achieve the benefits/outcomes required
  • Implement and manage change when necessary to meet project outputs within the project change process
  • Evaluate and assess the result of the project, transition to BAU Support and report on lessons learned

Qualifications & Experience

  • Project Management accreditation (APM/Prince 2) required;
  • Experience of project delivery within Finance & Banking sector desired
  • Excellent communication skills, written & verbal
  • Problem-solving and leadership skills
  • Strong Stakeholder management skills & experience
  • Project planning, risk management, time management and other project management skills
  • Experience as a project manager / Change Leader –c. 5 minimum
  • Experience in strategic planning, risk management and/or change management
  • Proficiency in project management software tools
