Technical Manager

Our client is working to get the United Kingdom to be net-zero through their Solar products and they are looking for an experienced Technical Manager to provide technical and project management skills for their growing business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provision of technical management and oversight at tender stage to ensure projects are assessed and Solar PV systems design, specification, performance, quality and project timescales are deliverable.
  • Management of the installation team throughout the pre-construction stage to ensure that projects commence on time and with sufficient and correct design information.
  • Developing good working relationships with clients, consultants, sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Liaising with suppliers, site staff and installation teams.
  • Solar PV / Electrical contracting installations – average of 1MW roof top and 5-20MW private wire ground mounted systems.
  • Specification and procurement of materials and equipment.
  • Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Ensuring Health & Safety procedures are up to date and installation team are regularly briefed through toolbox talks.
  • Maintaining documentation accurately and updating QMS.

Key skills required:

  • MUST have experience in delivering large scale (>5MW) commercial solar projects.
  • Previous experience implementing roof mounted non-domestic Solar PV projects
  • Relevant experience working within the renewables sector, ideally commercial Solar PV, Energy Efficiency and an operational/project management type role. Electrical contracting experience will be well regarded as will a HSE qualification
  • Ground mounted PV and battery storage experience
  • Engineering technical excellence and pride in work / project outcomes
  • Strong Project Management skills, ensuring optimal design and costs on all projects
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing commercial-scale solar PV projects and teams, in addition to managing UK DNO G99 & G100 requirements and conditions
  • Ability to interpret PV designs for all building types
  • Strong electrical background

You will be required to work a blend of office-based in Exeter, and then possibly a day or two at home when bedded in. You will have the ability ( and willingness) to travel across the UK to visit sites when/if needed.

The package on offer for this role includes an attractive basic salary up to £55,000 – £75,000 (depending on experience) and a profit share bonus.
