Meet the team: Tara Maxwell, Recruitment Consultant (Ireland)

< Back to blog

Welcome to another installment of our Meet the Team blog series. These Q and As are a great opportunity for you to get to know our consultants and find out a bit more about what they do at Devonshire.

This time, we sat down with Tara Maxwell, who joined the Devonshire team in June 2022 as a Recruitment Consultant for our Ireland team.

Tell us a bit about yourself, what do you do at Devonshire?

At Devonshire my time is spent sourcing the right candidates and building strong relationships with our clients. I really enjoy reaching out to them and getting a real understanding of what they are looking for in a role and how I can play a part in helping them achieve that.

What are the types of roles that you recruit for?

As Ireland is still in the start-up mode, I work across a variety of different roles from roles within the hospitality industry to healthcare etc. Having this variety has really helped me get an understanding of the market in Ireland, which then ties in with business development here in Ireland and building relationships with existing clients and reaching out to potential new clients.

I’m looking forward to seeing the team grow and see what’s next for the team here in Ireland.

In your opinion, what makes a candidate stand out from the crowd?

I think someone who is open and honest about what it is they really want out of their career is really refreshing for me. At times when looking to make a change to a new role or a new profession you may agree to something that you don’t really want from your work. Knowing what a candidate really wants and is looking for is only going to work out better in the long run for them, for your client and for you.

What advice would you give to people wanting to progress in the career ladder?

Whether its progressing in the role that you are already in or starting a new role, don’t be afraid to use your voice to voice your opinions. Just because you may not be the most experienced person in the room it doesn’t mean that your ideas or opinions are wrong or don’t matter!

How are you finding things at Devonshire?

Amazing – I love every minute of it. You can really let your individual personality show. It’s so refreshing when you can do that in an organisation, and when you can do it whilst being successful it’s even better.

Describe yourself in three words…

Happy, sarcastic, driven.

What do you get up to outside of work?

Outside of work I am in full Mom mode spending time with my son Paddy, who has just turned one ? He is my entire world. I love watching the world through his eyes and seeing him grow into this funny amazing little human.

I’m also in the middle of planning my wedding which is very exciting. Myself and my fiancé Pat have been together for 5 years and we’re getting married in November 2023! We’re counting down the days already!!

What’s your favourite food?

Anything and everything with cheese on it!

If you had a dinner party, what three people (dead or alive) would you invite?
  • My nana Rose… that lady knew how to party!
  • Princess Margaret
  • Freddy Mercury
Finally, what’s your favourite motto/quote?

What’s for you won’t pass you.
